American Indian Yellow River Root Pipe C/AR422 American Indian Yellow River Root Pipe. Wad Miller who ran the Great Lakes Indian Museum, told me years ago that this was a Yellow River, Wisconsin root pipe based on a stash of tin pipe inserts had been found at a trade post or Indian site near that area of North Western Wisconsin. At the time of discovery they did not know what the inserts were used for, but when I purchased the pipe 30 years ago from a picker from the area Mr. Miller was sure the insert was the same as those discovered earlier. This pipe shows signs of much use in the bowl and burning/drying of the surrounding wood. |
