Gamblers Cheater Glasses This early pair of blue tinted glasses appear in the book, " Early American Specs", on page 40 and date to the 1850's.
In the book, "Gamblers of the Old West", by the publishers of Time-Life books, page 120, they state "Blue-tinted spectacles enabled the wearer to detect marks made on the backs of cards with phosphorescent ink, which was invisible to the unaided eyes of his opponent".
In K.C.Card Co. Blue Book Number 436, page 22 there is a listing for Luminous Readers. "Luminous Readers originated and introduced by us have been successfully used in all parts of the country. These cards do not bear any visible mark, but when viewed with our Luminous Visor or our Luminous Glasses the work appears as plain as the figure 8 on the back of the card pictured...". Just below this listing is a listing for the Glasses.
Included is an extra long paper mache covered with leather glass case made to accommodate straight temples, circa 1870. |

J. W. Snead Roulette Table / Mason & Co Wheel C/EO25 The table was made by J. W. Snead in Long Beach CA. The 32" wheel was made by Mason & CO. (which I believe was located in New Jersey). The wheel has 36 numbers with a "0" and a "00". The wheel works great, spins free and is made from beautiful wood. The legs have intricately carved claw feet and a turned cross stretcher. The wood is walnut. The wood has a lot of color. The wood has all been sanded, stained, and coated with several coats of polyurethane. The table top still has the original felt on it. There is a chip drawer and a chip tray and the original shipping crate where the wheel is stored. The table was used in Lounges and Nightclubs in Montana while gambling was legal;(it was outlawed sometime in the late 1940's) it has been stored by the family ever since. |
Model: J.W. Snead / Mason & Co. Price: $7500.00 |
